Strong Contributors To Gum Infection

Gum disease is a serious gum infection caused by bacteria which starts as gingivitis and can progress to periodontitis. Gum infection is suffered by 19 out of 20 people, thus making it the most common disease to affect humans around the globe. A build up of plaque or tartar along the gum line or between teeth is the main cause of gum disease, however, there are major factors that contribute to the likelihood of the gum condition which includes: genetics, hormonal imbalances or changes, stress, smoking, medications, poor nutrition, diabetes and the clenching and grinding of teeth. Obvious symptoms of gum disease are bleeding gums, swollen gums, receding gumline, teeth sensitivity and loose teeth. Gum disease treatments depends on the severity of the condition which is why dental visit are of high importance to get early treatments to halt the progression of gum disease.
