Common Treatments for Hot Flashes and Other Menopause Symptoms

Due to the ageing process in women, there is hormonal change which is reducing the levels of female hormones called progesterone and estrogen. With the loss of these hormones there will be evident symptoms shown by women. The symptoms includes hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings irregular periods, night sweats, anxiety, depression and sleeping problems. Fortunately there are treatments already used and proven to fight the symptoms.  Estrogen replacement therapy and hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which includes both estrogen and progesterone replacement, are the common treatments for menopause. However there are already a growing number of effective, non-hormonal alternatives recommended to help counteract the symptoms of menopause. These includes; lifestyle changes, Nutritional diet, the use of herbs like flaxeed and black cohosh. The reason for the increased popularity of alternatives is because results of studies conducted with ERT and HRT, have shown that with a long term use they are proven to be a health risk.
